so ... im heartbroken to say the least ... but here is my sister's blog post ... i feel it's appropriate for HER to tell YOU where we are now with my nephew.
""One of the things Thomas’s oncologist is good at is warning us when we’re about to hit the big stuff. Phrases like, “I have bad news” give our minds time to race to emergency stations and brace for what’s next.
So, I have bad news.
Thomas’s MRI results from last week showed that his tumor is back. It is inoperable. We have discontinued chemotherapy.
We
are sad, intermittently, or underlyingly: it's hard to believe this is
real when Thomas is riding around on his trike and "talking" on a
plastic measuring cup held to his ear. Off the chemo and not
experiencing effects of the tumor yet, he's a handful, squeezing the
fun out of every moment of the day.
I don’t know exactly how the immediate future will look. There are conversations and meetings to be had, some easier than others. I think the next couple months with him are going to be golden, so we're going to try to focus on that.""
that said... im destroyed. one moment i am fine and then next im hysterical. this is all so surreal, i feel like this is something i'm watching on Oprah or something I would watch on Extreme Home makeover. It's crazy. it's so NOT fair. they have fought so hard... i cant help them. I can try and be strong ... i know... that's what my sister needs. but I want to hold him in my arms and tell him everything is going to be alright... i want to take this pain away for my sister. but i cant. she is loosing her baby, my brother is loosing his son... my family is loosing their 1st grandbaby ... i am loosing my nephew. i am so angry, i am so sad, i am so heartbroken. this is just all too much. I know that thomas will be in a better place, but we wont. we'll still be here without him. we will still be here....
Even though it is quite obvious that Oprah enjoys all that comes from her success, how could anyone disagree with the fact that she has done incredible philanthropical things that are pretty much unparalleled? Same with Bill Gates- he lives in an extraordinary home, but through his Bill and Melinda Gates foundation has donated literally 10s of billions of dollars to charities. Brinigng attention to issues while simultaneously living a comfortable lifestyle is not hypocritical. You don't have to live in poverty to acknowledge that it is a problem.
Also, how dare anyone say that someone who does not support the war does not support the troops? They are completely different things. Supporting the troops is a given, I don't think anyone would disagree. It is not the troops who are estabilishing political ideologies- they are doing their job. It is embarassing for Bush enthusiasts to draft such a ridiculous argument, and to try to establish sides, when really, on the issue of the troops, there are no sides. Supporting them is human nature, humanity.
"Dear Mr. President"
(feat. Indigo Girls)
Dear Mr. President
Come take a walk with me
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly
What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep
What do you feel when you look in the mirror
Are you proud
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why
Dear Mr. President
Were you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
How can you say
No child is left behind
We're not dumb and we're not blind
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell
What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
Let me tell you bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothing bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
Oh
How do you sleep at night
How do you walk with your head held high
Dear Mr. President
You'd never take a walk with me
Would you
Synopsis provided by ABC:Drowning on Dry Land | Air Date: 02/15/2007
At the disaster scene, other rescue workers find the man with the injured leg at the edge of the dock. He's got Meredith's tag on him, but she's nowhere to be found. Derek assumes she finished with him and moved on.
George lies to the mother whose son is missing that he's found him so that she'll consent to go into surgery. Miranda insists he really find the boy by the time the mother wakes up.
Izzie is running out of options in dealing with the man who's pinned under a car on the ferry, so she calls the Chief and asks him what to do. He and Mark talk her through drilling holes in the man's skull to relieve cranial pressure. She does such a good job of it that not only does the man survive, the Chief tells her she's officially off probation and invites her in on the surgery.
Alex is busy dealing with the frantic families who are anxious to know the fate of their loved ones who were on the ferry. There's no identification on most of the accident victims in the hospital, so no way of knowing who's who. Alex comes up with an idea: he takes Polaroids of all the patients and posts their photos on the board so their families can identify them.
A man asks Alex if he's seen his pregnant wife and Alex assumes it must be the woman he rescued. But Addison insists he can't be sure until he's checked the morgue. An introspective Addison says that Jane Doe could easily be her, because if she went missing, she'd have no one looking for her. Alex says he would notice if she disappeared.
George tells Alex he's looked everywhere for the missing boy and Alex suggests one place he hasn't yet looked: The morgue. They go together and there's no small boy but there is a pregnant woman. Alex takes her photo, but first he shows the photo of the woman in surgery to the man in the waiting room. Her face is grossly swollen, so he can't recognize her. But her hair and eyes are the wrong color, so Alex reluctantly shows him the photo of the woman in the morgue. The man collapses in tears and identifies her as his wife.
George checks the O.R. boards and sees that Callie has a 7-year-old boy in surgery. He brings in the photo and asks if it's him, and Callie confirms that it is. He, inappropriate as always, announces he's going to kiss her silly when they get home that night.
Cristina, who's been stuck monitoring Burke's cases and suturing wounds all day, is getting antsy for Meredith to come back so she call tell her about the engagement. She sees all the other interns return from the accident scene, but none of them can tell her where Meredith is.
Derek finds the little girl whom he saw with Meredith earlier and asks her where Meredith is. The girl silently points out into the cold waters.
Derek dives in and comes up with Meredith, who's pale and cold and not breathing. He works on her feverishly in the ambulance until they arrive at the hospital and the Chief orders him out of the room.
All the interns are paged about Meredith's condition and rush to the trauma room where Miranda and the Chief are working on her. Outside, Derek sits on the floor, grief-stricken and Mark sits next to him in wordless support.
Izzie stops a distraught Cristina from going in, telling her she's certain Meredith will survive this. George is more pessimistic, saying "People die." Izzie makes a speech about how she knows people die, but she believes in the good, including believing that Denny is with her always. And she tells George that she thinks his marrying Callie was a huge mistake.
Meredith is severely hypothermic and isn't responding to
efforts to revive her. The Chief announces, "We're losing her." Just
then we see Meredith sit up and gasp. She's alone in the room, except
for the demolition expert who was blown up at the hospital. "Am I
dead?" she asks him. But it's someone else who answers. "Damn right you
are," says Denny, who's smiling at her.
So ... TONIGHT is the night... PART-2!!!
I'm actually kinda nervous I'm not even going to lie about it either! SERIOUSLY! Everything I've read has said that the next two episodes are going to be ENORMOUSLY important for the next season of Grey's anatomy. Kristin from E! gossips that someone on the show WILL DIE! Excuse me!
Yes. I SAID DIE! My actual thoughts on the entire situation are as follows:
-yes i think someone will die, but I think they might be revived. Cause Shonda said it would be someone one we would never expect.
- my big guess are its either Ellis ... although it does seem too obvious... (did she ever had her heart surgery? with the accident, i dont think she did...????)
- Meredith!
k, not like dead off the show, but declared dead and then she comes back... maybe seeing Denny? i don't know
just a guess!!
-Richard (the chief)?
maybe, i mean he's kinda old... it would make the run for
chief more thrilling, but really sad
- Burke
a lot of people are saying it will be Burke, i just think that
is too predictable with all the drama that's been going on
"on set". Plus, these episodes were filled LONG before the drama even occurred.
I'm sure Christina and Burke are going to have it out and probably call off the engagement for a little bit because of the drama of him telling people. She asked for "ONE THING" in return for the engagement... "let me tell Meredith first"... and he couldn't even do that. If it was me in that situation, I know I would be upset! FOR SUUUUURE>>> and knowing Christina's attitude and the problems that they just overcame, I could see this issue being a make or break for them. Maybe not totally over, but at least ANOTHER bump in the road.
We've also had an introduction last episode to meet the newest character on GA... Jane Doe with the smashed face that Alex saved, from what I've hear is none other than Elizabeth Reaser. Elizabeth graduated rom Juilliard School of Drama. Like most actresses right out of school struggled to find work, but then landed a part on Guiding Light. Since has become an accomplished film, television, and stage actress, landing numerous supporting and leading roles. Rumors are she's going to be sticking around for a while. (another suspicion of mine is that she'll lose the baby and Alex will help her cope with the lose, starting a new romantic interest for Alex).
We'll just have to wait and see what happens!!!
PREDICTIONS ANYONE??!??!?!
